Contact stress curves Based on a comprehensive analysis of the improved performance parameters with speed and acceleration curve compared with the original conclusions can be drawn: 1) The improved cam profile has a 52% reduction in the maximum jerk of intake valve in the case of cam angle of total work package unchanged, which has reduces the vibration and noise of the valve train effectively. 2) The fullness coefficient of the new design cam profile is about 0.58 which is lower than the original cam profile, which has solve the problems in engine work reliability caused by the excessive fullness coefficient of the original. 3) The minimum radius of the curvature of the new design of the cam has a significant increase compared to the original cam, which has reduced the contact stress, cuts down the wear of the tappet and improves the lubrication conditions. 4) As can be seen from Fig.6, the improved intake valve lift is smoother than the original and has no rebound or flying off
