Introduction Chloride-induced corrosion of steel bars has become one of the major causes of deterioration in many existing RC structures [1], structural engineers are faced with the challenge of assessing the vulnerability of such deteriorated structures and deciding on appropriate strengthening method to improve security guarantee and prolong service life of the structure.
FRP composites are becoming popular in the rehabilitation and strengthening for corroded RC structures in recent years [2-3], but single carbon FRP (CFRP) and glass FRP (GFRP) which have been adopted widely in present exist obvious disadvantage, for example, the deformation capacity of single CFRP is insufficient, and the strength of single GFRP isn’t high, which will restrict severely FRP composites to further using widely in civil engineering field.
