This performance can be enhanced by increasing the reactivity surface area through engineering of porosity in the metal foam [5, 6, 7].
The alloy-de-alloy phenomenon, is a relatively new innovative method for engineering porosity in the structures.
This alloying strategy plus the innovation of engineering porosity in the structures results in the enhancement of the the antimicrobial capability of the product.

Preface We have great pleasure in presenting this special issue of the journal Key Engineering Materials which contains papers presented on the 2nd International Conference on Materials Science and Engineering: Recent Advances and Challenges (ICMSE-RAC 2019).
