The % El. gradually decreased as the aging time increased, agreeing with the inverse relationship between strength and ductility. % elongation increased beyond 96 hours of aging where the strength began to drop substantially.

Effect of aging time on a) UTS , b). 0.2% P.S, c). % El & d) Hardness for samples solutionised at 470ºC for 4 hrs. and 8 hrs. and aged subsequently at 120 ºC.
H.Loffler et al.[3] and M.Tanaka et al [14] have made a mention of PFZ formation in several 7XXX alloys.
The TEM results of this study were in agreement with the findings of Gang Sha et.al [15] & A.K.Mukhopadhyay et.al. [16].

Semi-Solid Casting of Al-7wt%Si Alloy in Expendable Molds H.
This paper reports the preliminary results of the effects of solid fraction, applied force and section thickness on the fluidity of Al-7.1 wt%Si semisolid slurry in the sand mold.

Summary 1) Fluidity of Al-7.1 wt%Si semisolid slurry is improved by use of centrifuging force. 2) Fluidity increases approximately linearly with the square of the initial fraction liquid ( 2 Lf fL ∝ ). 3) Fluidity as a function of section thickness shows an exponential relation ( nr f eL ∝ ) where n is a function of external force and is independent of solid fraction. 4) Solid fraction changes along the length of the channels and is highest close to the sprue.
