Technical science defines a lot of different factors, that they may be cause of shorter cutting tool lifetime.
One of these materials is sintered carbide.
Testing properties of those materials is very important, because their properties may be different than properties defined in standards ISO.
Within this paper there were tested cutting materials made of sintered carbide (P20+TiN).
Standard ISO 3685 defines T-vc dependence in logarithmic scale how to linear dependence, that is for all cutting materials common.

Introduction
The detection and qualification of damage in engineering materials and structures presents an
ongoing challenge.
Very similar phenomena can be seen in woven composite materials undergoing high cycle fatigue loading.
In this context, alternative loading scenarios for laboratory testing of materials and components may also be developed.
