Influence of Cu and Ti Doping on Hard Metal Matrix of Diamond Embedded Composites for Drilling Tools
Online since: August 2012
Authors: Guerold Sergueevitch Bobrovinitchii, Ana Lúcia Diegues Skury, Marcia G. de Azevedo, Sérgio Neves Monteiro
Since the beginning of last century, most drilling bits were fabricated with a composite of hard ceramic particles of tungsten carbide (WC) bound with a metallic cobalt phase (Co) [1,2].
Part of this desirable engineering performance is dire to the plastic and thermal stable behavior of the Co.
End particular, the doping of a Cu alloy, by Ti causes the formation of hardened micro layers around the ceramic particles.

Abstract.
Nickel deposits were electroformed by a novel technique, in which the mandrel rotated in hard particles (such as ceramic beads) filling between the electrodes.
Hard particles, such as ceramic beads, were filling between the wall and cathode.
