These properties differ remarkably from those of the corresponding bulk materials especially when the thickness of the metallic films lessens to submicrometre-scale, even to nano-scale comparable to the length scales of the microstructure [6–9].

As a kind of structural and functional material, the ceramics that is characterized by high-strength, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance, etc, has been extensively used in many fields such as industry, agriculture and science and technology [1].
However, ceramic materials are easy to produce cracks because of its brittleness and high strength, thereby easily leading to stress concentration in use.

In this paper, by using the low to moderate grade bentonite ores from Weifang (WF for short) (China) as the raw materials, the continuous preparation process of the high purity montmorillonite and the application performance of self-prepared inorganic gel are systematically studied.
Therefore, using bentonite with high montmorillonite content and low layer charge as experimental materials, the inorganic gel with good performance will be prepared.
