Introduction
Due to the generally negative environmental impact of polymeric materials, such as expanded
polystyrene, used for cushioning applications in protective packaging, there has been interest in one
of the most commonly available renewable material, paper, as a replacement for polymeric
cushioning.

Each loading cycle would cause new damage inside
the material, and the response of material to the new loading cycle is different from the previous cycle.
Introduction Acoustic emission (AE) is a burst of high frequency elastic waves emitted by a local failure such as microcracking or pore in materials.
AE events are generated by the occurring and development of microcracks in materials, therefore, each AE signal contains valuable information of the expanding of damage in the materials.
Consequently, investigation on the regularity of AE events is of great importance in further understanding of the failure process of materials.
