Attention to these materials is expressed, on the one hand, in an increased interest in the fundamental aspects of magnetoelectric phenomena, and, on the other, in expectations of specific practical applications of magnetoelectrics in spin electronics (in particular, as the basis of magnetic memory).
However, the development of new devices and devices for spin electronics based on magnetoelectric effects is faced with a fundamental problem - the number of materials known to date that have a sufficient magnitude of magnetoelectric effects is limited.
The most studied magnetoelectric materials at present are bismuth ferrite BiFeO3 and manganite BaMnF4.
From this point of view, studies of the parameters and properties of the domain structure of garnet-ferrites are a priority for the field of modern materials science, which is engaged in the search and creation of materials for the element base of new-generation spin electronics devices, the principle of which is based on changing the domain configuration of materials under the influence of electric and magnetic fields.
