Abstract.
Introduction Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors have a number of advantages over their electrical counterparts and have been used for structural health monitoring (SHM) applications in a wide range of industrial sectors such as civil engineering, aerospace, nuclear engineering, etc. [1], but usually limited for long-term use in high-temperature environments.

Keywords: Optical Fiber Sensor, Damage Monitoring, Fiber-Metal Laminates
Abstract Optical fiber vibrations sensors(OFVS) and extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer(EFPI)
were used in damage monitoring of fiber-metal laminates(FML).
Recently, based on the smart structure concept, optical fiber sensors have been increasingly applied to monitor various engineering and civil structural components.
These fiber-optic smart structures allow engineers to add nervous systems to their designs, giving structures capabilities that would be difficult to achieve by other means.
