Since we know that material microstructure influences its properties, and that cement-based materials of different microstructure have different failure properties and then the variations in micro fracture phenomena must be manifested in the acoustic emission response of the different specimens.

In this paper, several typical malfunctions of the long span transmission tower are analyzed, such as the material stiffness reduced by atmospheric corrosion over a long time, the loose of bolt joint caused by accidental factors or man-made sabotages, and foundation settlement.

In order to eliminate inferior materials, construction units and supervision units should strengthen quality testing, inspection on steels and fasteners.
Only if use certified materials, organize construction on the basis of program, abiding by management system, put these criterions and systems into practice, should engineering construction be conducted safely.
