The above materials were admixed thoroughly and then ground to the required consistency in a three roll mixer.
Thixotropic Behavior Thixotropy of paste materials has often been quantified by measuring the surface of what is called the ‘thixotropic loop’ or at least a surface linked to this thixotropic loop [10-12].

They allow to measure the surface free energy of materials of modified surface layer.
In such cases, we can not used other methods, which results are obtained by averaging the properties of the material throughout its mass, because the modified surface layer has different properties than other materials.

In addition, the new findings may be helpful in understanding the dynamic behavior of these materials especially in engineering projects in which these granular materials are used.
This curve shows that 100% of the soil materials are of a diameter less than 25mm.

PREFACE The International Symposium on Metastable, Mechanically Alloyed and Nanocrystalline Materials, ISMANAM-99, was held in Dresden, Germany, from August 30 to September 3, 1999.
After reviewing process, 148 papers have been accepted for publication in this special issue of Materials Science Forum I Journal of Metastable and Nanocrystalline Materials.
Among the various topics covered during the Symposium, major contributions were made in the area of bulk metallic glasses and bulk nanocrystalline materials prepared by severe plastic deformation.
A large number of contributions were related to the structural characterization of nanophase materials and to the structural evolution caused by mechanical treatment.
Altogether, the Symposium provided a state-of-the-art overview of research activities, technology developments and emerging applications in this field of materials science, highlighting the most recent achievements and promising trends for future research and industrial applications.
