The results obtained were shown in Table.1.By comparison ,we can see that after nitric acid activation, the capacitance is 50% higher than carbon aerogels .The reason is concentrated nitric acid has strong oxidation, then oxidation-reduction reaction may taken place on the surface of carbon aerogels ,engender a great deal of oxygen-containing functional groups such as –COOH,=C=O, OH, –CO,=O and so on .They could engender many hydrophilism positions on the surface of carbon aerogels.These newly -increased oxygen- containing functional groups could affect not only the electrochemical capacitance behavior of the carbon aerogels ,but also the surface wettability, increase the utilization rate of electrode materials in aqueous electrolytes ,hence the specific capacitance is higher than before.
Experimental data extracted from this measurement are plotted in a Nyquist diagram.
