Only destroy the film on the surface of the powdered aluminum can the reaction react continuously[6].There are two ways to realize: one is using the outside force to destroy the alumina film, such as the vortex combustor designed by the Pennsylvania State University, as shown in Fig.1,the water revolves at a high speed and the film is destroyed by this way[8]; the other is adding some chemicals which can react with the alumina film and can’t react with the metals. 4 Advancement of aluminum-water reaction and application At present, many organizations do the research in order to apply the aluminum-water reaction to water ramjets, National University of Defense Technology and Northwestern Polytechnical University have done research on the principle, model, and characteristics of water ramjets, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology of China have done research on the characteristics of powdered aluminum and combustion mechanism.

These materials are widely used in power plant, petro-chemical and marine applications where the weldments are usually subjected to aggressive corrosion environment.
Experimental Work The candidate materials selected for this study were AISI 304 and Monel 400 and their chemical composition was given in Table.1 GTA welding was carried out on these samples by setting the process parameters as 60V and 110 amps for AISI 304 using ENiCu-7 and E308L; whereas for welding Monel 400, ENiCu-7 filler material was chosen and 60V and 130 amps was employed.
Summary Defect free welds could be obtained using GTA welding with the filler materials ENiCu-7 and E308L offered good resistance to corrosion.
