During the calculation, the dosage of cement is transferred to the dosage of fly ash by mass, the difference on density of these two materials does not considered, which results in the total volume of binder (i.e. cement plus fly ash) expands over the initial volume of cement before replacing.

However, the depletion trend of good quality material is observed from several reported material problems such as pop-out aggregates or the stained area or map cracking in some large concrete slab.
The use of uncertain quality material appeared to be unavoidable.
The results of cored samples from the same set of cracked structures indicated the complexity of ASR problems which is influenced by several factors; nature of materials, process and environmental conditions [2].

Coulomb postulated that a shear fracture occurs in isotropic material, if the maximum shear stress is reached.
It and its many variants have been applied to rock, concrete, and other pressure-dependent materials [8]

They are believed to influence the mechanical properties of these materials to some extent - including changes in their failure behaviour.
Introduction The role of residual stresses on the mechanical behaviour of heterogeneous materials such as metal matrix composites (MMCs) has been known for a long time [1].
These aspects are of importance when the microstructure shall be optimized in order to obtain for instance better forming capabilities. (†) An extended version of this manuscript was published in Computational Materials Science 26, 2003, p. 142-153 2 Title of Publication (to be inserted by the publisher) The intention of this paper is thus to provide insights into the role of residual stresses on the global mechanical properties as well as on local properties of heterogeneous materials such as Al/SiC metal matrix composites.
