Although poor corrosion resistance is seen as undesirable in many engineering applications, in the area of medical implants, this property enables implanted devices in the human body to corrode and degrade over time.
The PEO method can be used to form a thin or thick, hard and adherent ceramic-like coating on the surface of Mg alloys for automotive applications.
Figure 3 shows the representative engineering stress-strain curves and tensile properties obtained from the tensile testing of both uncoated and coated samples.
