The rock breakage process is the interaction process between TBM and rock mass, which is affected by TBM specifications, such as thrust force, cutter tip width and profile, cutter spacing, RPM, and torque, and rock mass properties mainly including rock material strength, rock brittleness, joint spacing and orientation.
Disc cutters are usually made of tungsten carbide for its high durability; however, we employed steel-4340 material model (Johnson and Cook, 1985) from the AUTODYN-3D library.

Abstract.
Experimental Commercial AZ91D magnesium alloy(8.78%Al, 0.65%Zn, 0.19%Mn, 0.045%Si, 0.0011%Fe, 0.0079%Cu, 0.0008%Ni, 0.0009%Be, 0.001%Cl-, balance Mg)、pure magnesium(99.9%) and aluminum silicate (Al2(SiO3)3)(78-82% SiO2, 11-13% Al2O3) were used as the starting materials.
