Synthesis and characterization of chitosan based ultraviolet absorber with groups of benzophenone Shu Juan Yua, Chun Qun Liang b College of Chemistry and life Science, Guangxi Teachers Education University, Nanning, 530001, China asjyu2001@yahoo.com.cn, bliangchunqun@163.com Keywords: Ultravioletlight absorber; Chitosan; benzophenone Abstract. 2-hydroxy-4-glycidyl ether benzophenone(HGEBP) is synthesized with 2,4-dihydoxy- benzophenone(UV-0) and epichlorohydrin(ECH) as starting material, then a series of chitosan (CS) based novel ultraviolet absorbers (CS-g-UV-0) are synthesized by the reaction of chitosan with HGEBP in isopropylcarbinol in the presence of sodium hydroxide.
It has prospective applications in pharmaceutical material owing to its bioantifungal activity, good biocompatibility and low toxicity [1].
