While particular mechanisms of stone decay are intimately linked with the characteristics of construction materials and technics used for a given building as well as the environment of the building (costal constructions for example should support sea water actions while the desert buildings more often a sand loaded wind), some general aspects of stone degradation could be taken into account from a fatigue-like approach.
The data available from similar materials are then used for the parameters S and s ([10]).
