Introduction
In the early fifties, electric (magnetic) rheological material, as a smart material whose physical characteristics can be controlled by applied electric (magnetic) fields, became a hot concern of scientists in the field of mechanical engineering and automation because of its fast response, low-energy consumption, large range of actuating force and other advantages [1,2].
However, there is still no products based on ER materials on the market.

Abstract: Silk fabric was dyed with the colourant extracted from Laccifer Lacca Kerr. by using post-mordanting process and pad-dry technique.
Experimental Materials A commercially produced plain-weave silk fabric (thickness 0.15 mm, weight 67 g/m2, fabric count per inch 96 x 80) was scoured with an aqueous nonionic surfactant solution at a temperature of 45°C for 30 minutes, thoroughly rinsed and air dried at room temperature.
