Numerical simulation of flash butt welding of high manganese steel crossing with carbon steel rail Yanguo Lia, Fucheng Zhangb Corresponding to: Fucheng Zhang(zfc@ysu.edu.cn) State Key Laboratory of Metastable Materials Science and Technology, Yanshan University, Qinhuangdao 066004, Hebei, P.
The model considers comprehensively the physical parameters of materials, which change with temperature, as well as the burning material caused by the splutter during welding process.
However, there are big differences between these two kinds of materials in physical properties, metallographic microstructure as well as weldability.
With stainless steel as a welding media, flash butt welding appears successful in welding these two materials[1,2].

Afterwards, he published papers with GN.Pande and P.R.Owen on applying overlay model to solve issues of complicated nonlinear materials [2, 3].
Generally, overlay model is any solid material that is formed by overlaying different materials.

It is a good choice to use artificial synthetic materials with excellent erosion resistance and thermal shock resistance for improving various performance of the sizing nozzle[4].
Al2O3-ZrO2 composite materials not only have good mechanical properties of high strength, high fracture toughness, great hardness and good abrasion resistance, but also have excellent thermodynamic performances of the thermal diffusivity and thermal shock resistance[5].
It is expected to improve the structure and usability of the sizing nozzle if Al2O3-ZrO2 composite materials were used.
Experiment Raw materials In the experiment, ZrOCl2·8H2O (Industrial pure) and AlCl3·6H2O (Analytically pure) were used as the main raw materials, Y2O3 (Analytically pure) was choosed as stabilizing agent, H2C2O4·2H2O and NH3·H2O were selected as precipitants, carbon black was used as coating agent, and PEG (Polyethyleneglycol) was used as polymeric dispersant.

Traditional cutting technique not only brings material-wasted, low productivity, but also decreases the mechanical property with the material flow cut, so the life of part is not long.
Material was assured to be isotropic and incompressible, and obeyed Mises yield criterion.

But for the aluminium alloy and most of the metal materials, elastic-plastic finite element model based on small scale yield condition is a better way than liner elastic modeling in the study of fatigue crack propagation.
