Penzien et al[9] had assumed that the direction of the principal axis can be found when the general effect of three perpendicular horizontal components was considered if the earthquake motion was viewed as stationary random process, and each components in the principal axis is incorrelate with the other two.
The five group of earthquake waves are: Taft waves, El Centro waves, LLOLLELO waves, Compos waves and LUCERNE waves, and the details are shown in Table 2.

The Young's modulus of the reloading stage in the cyclic deformation with a mixture of B2 + B19' phases in the S-S curve of Fig 3(c) is about EL=31.0GPa.
EA EM and EL represent the Young's moduli of austenite, martensite and the sample under loading.

The relationship between the bridging stress, σbr and the crack face separation, δ, follows from the assumption of "large" slip lengths adjacent to the crack faces according to [5] as ( ) ( )br y y=σ β δ where the constant β is defined as ( ){ } 1/2 2 2 2 2 4 1 f f L f m c E E R c E β τ   = −    , where EL is the Young modulus of the composite in fibre direction, Ef and Em are the Young moduli of fibre and matrix respectively, τ is the interface slipping shear resistance stress, R is the fibre radius and cf is the volume fraction of fibres.
The comparison was made with FEM calculations performed for a sufficiently large specimen, made of two layers M1 and M2 of composite such as FP/Al system with elastic constants: EL = 225 GPa, ET = 150 GPa, GL = 58 GPa, νL = 0.28 (fibres in the substrate 1 are parallel with the y axis).
