Checking and Strengthening Scaffolding of the Home Block for Hanging Cradle Construction of Qinhe Bridge Jihao Chena, Yujia Gaob, Sen Liuc and Yongpeng Sund School of Civil Engineering and Communications, North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, Zhengzhou, 450011, China acjh@ncwu.edu.cn, b1037092744@qq.com, c511069219@qq.com, d1097879121@qq.com Keywords: bridge engineering; prestressed concrete box girder; scaffolding of the home block; checking and strength.
According to the actual drawings of the Qinhe bridge and the actual load case, the analytical model is established through the finite element analysis software MIDAS/CIVIL.
The stress of the tube is very important for safety, but the deformation and stress of every tube in the scaffolding are rather difficult to be calculated by a conventional method based on the Chinese code JGJ166-2008 [1] which is mainly oriented to the house building engineering but not to bridge engineering.
This paper states the calculation of the deformation and stress of cuplok steel tubular scaffolding by the finite element analysis software MIDAS/CIVIL.
Conclusions The model of scaffolding is built by the finite element analysis software MIDAS/CIVIL.

Structural damage detection and assessment has been becoming a focus of increasing interest in civil engineering field.
This leads to the yielded theories and methods are not sufficiently applicable for practical engineering application.
Aiming at this, this paper focuses on developing effective methods of using wavelet and neural networks to detect the damage of elastic thin plate due to their extensive applications in civil engineering.
It is important to have a research on damage detection since elastic thin plate is very common in civil engineering structure.

The applications of SMAs in civil engineering are on the increase since SMAs show unique properties of shape memory effect and superelastic behavior.
Introduction Shape memory alloys (SMAs) are considered as a smart material in civil engineering and their applications for civil structures are expended more and more since they exhibit two outstanding behaviors such as shape memory effect and superelasticity.
Conclusions This study proved the applicability of the NiTiNb SMA for civil structures when shape memory effect is used.
The NiTiNb SMA showed very appropriate temperature window for the environment of civil structures.
