Abstract.
The changes of fiber surfaces, morphological properties of fibers, kappa number and physical properties of OCC pulp with laccase/ natural mediator system treatment were investigated to explore the potential advantages. 1 This research was funded by Open Fund Project (200705) of State Key Lab of Pulp and Paper Engineering of South China University of Technology and Science and Technology Development Plan Project of Tianjin City (04104611).
Experimental Materials The pulp used was OCC and were collected in a mill in TianJin.

Introduction
The tremendous non-biodegradable plastic wastes discarded each year has caused serious environmental pollution which lead to develop alternative biodegradable packaging materials.
However, pure gelatin films are brittle, highly hydrophilic [6] which limit its possible applications and constitute the main shortcoming of gelatin as a material.
