In recent years, low-dimensional Si3N4 materials, such as nanorobs[4], nanobelts[5,6], nanoneedle materials[7], nanowires [8] and whiskers [9, 10], have attracted much attention because of their enhanced hardness associated with their unique optical and other mechanical properties [5–7] as compared with coarse-grained Si3N4 materials.
As a result, different physical and chemical routes [11-14] have been proposed and developed for the synthesis of low-dimensional Si3N4 materials.
