Also, glasses containing Bi2O3 have attracted a considerable attention because of their wide applications in the field of glass-ceramics, thermal and mechanical sensors, reflecting windows, radiation shielding and because they may be used as layers for optical and opto-electronic devices, etc. [6] These glasses have a long infrared (IR) cut-off, which makes them ideal candidates for optical transmission [7].

The main difference of scanning nanohardness tester of the "Nanoskan" series from classical scanning probe microscopes (SPM) is application of a piezo-ceramic probe sensor with high bending stiffness of the cantilever.
On the basis of the scanning nanohardness tester "Nanoskan-3D" for measurements of mechanical properties of a surface the method of a measuring indentation according to recommendations of the international standard ISO 14577, and also a sklerometer method is realized.

Abstract
SiC particles are effective grain refiners in Mg-Al alloys.
In our study, heterogeneous nucleation by the addition of SiC particles was investigated; it can be regarded as alternative to Zr because cheap and easy available ceramic particles can be used.
