FEM Simulation of the Slab Edge Rolling in
Unsteady Rolling Stage

Abstract.
Bite stage and back-end whip stage of strip in hot rolling, especially unsteady material flow of the head and tail in rougher in edge rolling, will result in fishtail and width shrinkage and decrease incoming ratio.
The edge roll adopts analytical rigid model, while the slab material model adopt elastic-plastic of classical plastic theory.
