The progress in this field has been accelerated by advances in both synthetic methods of preparing the nanoporous templates, and development of techniques capable of filling the pores of such membranes.
This obstacle was overcome in recent years by several new methodologies: (1) Advances in the synthesis of metal nanoclusters have made monodispersed nanoparticles commercially available.
