Materials and methods The coatings were made on the Rzeszów University of Technology using a Cham Pro-Thermal Spray Systems manufactured by Sulzer company (Fig. 1).
During the manufacturing process the coating material in powder form is introduced into the plasma stream and then applied to the surface of the substrate material.
The next reason of cracks could be large differences between the coefficient of thermal expansion of deposited materials and the substrate (Fig 4a).Some particles did not fully melt into the flame retained in the coatings.

Introduction With the development of science and technology, brittle material is widely used in many high-tech fields such as aerospace, optics and electronics etc, and the components have strict request for the machining accuracy and surface quality.
In the grinding process of the brittle material, the removal mode of the material affects the surface quality.
The latest grinding research shows that although the brittle materials have great brittleness, they still could be machined in ductile mode with the optimized parameters, by which the surface quality of workpiece can be greatly improved.
The material used in the experiment is K9 glass, and the diamond grinding wheel is used.
