These unclear conclusions seem to be mainly concerned with residual stress relaxation during fatigue tests and the metallurgical difference of the welded materials and parent materials.
In this study, we investigated the effect of welding residual stresses and weld bead profiles on fatigue behavior of a material, JIS SM 490 A, which is one of the materials used for rolling stock structures.
In this study, yield strengths, tensile strengths and work hardening exponents of base materials, heat affected zones and weld metals are measured using a similar method.
