Based on the engineer's point of view , Sluyters couple worked in this area with all life energy. In the 1970s later, its application was extended to the structure and solid materials.
In the 1990s early, several Chinese young scholars Xu Zhongzi, Gu Ping and Xie Ping began to research ac impedance in cement-based materials in Canada.
After 80 years of development, ac impedance spectroscopy have become an important technology to research the materials and structure [1].
At present, the theory of ac impedance spectroscopy has been very mature, and successfully applied in many subjects except for soils such as, life science, environment, electronics, cement-based materials etc.

The paper presents new, possible applications of artificial neural networks in the field of materials science and material engineering in relation to other artificial intelligence methods known and applied in this area.
Numerous researches over the last decade, pursued at the Institute of Engineering Materials and Biomaterials of the Silesian University of Technology, have been relating to the application of neural networks for modeling and simulating different concepts in the field of materials science and engineering [1–3].

As other ceramic materials, glass presents a brittle behaviour and a broad scatter of strength results, due to the random distribution of micro-cracks on its surface.
The resistance of brittle materials can be analysed using two different approaches: a critical stress model [6] and a maximum defect size model [7].
Deriving the primary cumulative distribution function of fracture stress for brittle materials from 3- and 4- point bending tests.

Extensive studies have been conducted to modify crystal structure of dielectric materials through doping.
The materials with coarsened grains, therefore, retain low dielectric constants.
Equipment supports from the Department of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University, and the Department of Science Service, Ministry of Science and Technology, Thailand are gratefully acknowledged.
