Damages caused to the FRP borehole surfaces due to hot and sharp metallic chips is a large concern in drilling of compound materials.
In the present study the vibration drilling process of light weight materials has been investigated.
Especially in aircraft industry the use of multi-layer materials is significantly increased during the last few years [2].
To join parts of dissimilar materials usually rivets or bolts are applied as fasteners.

Corrosion resistance of X52 pipeline steel at sea mud zone Zhao Xia1, a, Liu Shuan1,2, b and Hou Baorong1,c 1 Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Corrosion and Bio-fouling, Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao 266071, PR China 2Ningbo Institute of materials technology and engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningbo 315201, PR China azx@qdio.ac.cn, bshuanliu312@163.com, c brhou@qdio.ac.cn Keywords: corrosion resistance; X52 pipeline steel; sea mud; corrosion products.
Generally, soils with high dissolved salt, high resistivity and high acidity are more aggressive towards metallic materials.
Yan et al reported that the representative of red clay soils in South China were extremely aggressive towards various metallic materials, and the corrosion rate of carbon steel in this kind of soil was above 0.1 mm/year, classified as the severe or very severe level [2].
X52 pipeline steel is one of the main pipeline materials because of its good ductile fracture resistance ability and corrosion resistance, which is widely used in natural gas, hydrocarbons and crude oil transport industry.
