Introduction The terahertz (THz) frequency is a frontier region for research in physics, chemistry, biology, materials science and medicine [1].Its uniquely suited to study and control systems of pivotal importance: electrons in highly-excited atomic Rydberg states, rotation of small molecules, collisions between gas phase molecules at room temperature, collective modes of protein vibrations, superconducting energy gaps, gaseous and solid-state plasma oscillations.

Synthesis of the key intermediate (5) of Biotin Our synthetic route of the intermediate (5) which was synthesized from the low-cost material L-cystine was illustrated in Figure 1.
Conclusions We have synthesized (R)-methyl-2-((tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino)-3-((tert-butyldimethylsilyl)thio) propanoate (5) using naturally occurring L-cystine as the chiral starting material.
