Thimmaiah et al. [1] specified that brittle materials, silicon by their inherent properties, are difficult to machine while maintaining the desired surface roughness but J.
It has been found that under certain controlled conditions [3] it is possible to machine brittle materials in ductile regime so that material removal is by plastic deformation, leaving a damage free surface.
Rusnaldy et al. [4-5], Sreejith [6] also studied the effects of various parameters such as cutting speed, depth of cut and rake angle of the tool on machining force to achieve ductile material removal from brittle materials.

Abstract. The effects of high magnetic field (HMF) of 8T and 12T on the crystallographic orientation of magnetic-induced pearlite (MIP) in silicon manganese cast steel had been investigated by Electron Backscattered Diffraction (EBSD) technique. The results show that the differences of magnetic moment, magnetocrystalline anisotropy and magnetostriction between the parent and product with the application of the external HMF,lead to the obvious preferred orientation during the grain nucleation and growth at the early stage of phase transformation.with 8T,the nucleation and growth

ECM is a comprehensive disciplines involving fluid dynamics, electrochemistry, materials science and others [1, 2] and has been used as an advanced manufacturing technology in many fields.
Adhesion between the film and substrates and components were mainly dependent on current density as well as polarization curves of materials.
So, current density should be set carefully according to machining parameters, electrolyte and polarization curves of materials.

Giant magnetostrictive material (GMM), a new kind of metal compounds, has great magnetostrictive strain.
Compared with other functional materials, GMM possesses many advantages, such as high strain output, low energy loss, high working frequency, large range of working temperature, and so on.
Therefore, it can be seen that GMM becomes the substitution of traditional functional materials in many fields.
