Analysis on the Crystallographic Orientation of Micro-Area under High Magnetic Field

Abstract:

The effects of high magnetic field (HMF) of 8T and 12T on the crystallographic orientation of magnetic-induced pearlite (MIP) in silicon manganese cast steel had been investigated by Electron Backscattered Diffraction (EBSD) technique. The results showthat the differences of magnetic moment 、magnetocrystalline anisotropy and magnetostriction between the parent and productwith the application of the external HMF,lead to the obvious preferred orientation during the grain nucleation and growth at the early stage of phase transformation.with 8T,the nucleation and growth of local ferrite(F) mainly is along with the field direction,namely<100>-oriented;While the intensity of HMF is up to 12T, the grains with the <100>-oriented growth are not strengthened consistently along the field direction , but the <110>-oriented.
