FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Polymer) and SMA (Shape Memory Alloys) were the most popular materials used to strengthen RC beams (e.g., [10]–[27]).
This illustrated the broad field of materials and methods available for enhancing the durability and performance of RC beams in various structural scenarios.
The rebar was encased in concrete, the host region, to facilitate optimal interaction between materials.

Initially, solutions were developed under static loading idealizing the pile as elastic beam and the soil as a non-linear material.
In the model, the soil was idealized as a nonlinear material while the pile as elastic-perfectly plastic.
Much of this paper has been published in form of full length papers in the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, International Journal of Geomechanics, Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, Marine Georesources and Geotechnology, Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures and others.
