This paper uses the Von-Mises yield rule to judge if some point inside the original isotropy material comes into the plastic flow status, thus the formula as follows:
―yield stress of material,
-three directions main stress
(i=1, 2, 3)
Use the Von-Mises fluxion rule to judge magnitude and direction of elastic strain.

Abstract.
ESO seems to be based on the intuition that if the understressed material (elements) is removed from the design domain, an optimal, i.e. least-weight,topology will be reached[4].
Specific steps are as follows: (1) Under a given load and boundary conditions, define design area, known as the initial design, and mesh in the region with the finite element method; (2) Static analysis for the discrete structure; (3) Clear strength theory, for example, under plane stress state, Von Mises stress criterion can be used for isotropic materials to solve the stress value of each point, the unit's Von Mises stress and the Max unit's stress, if satisfied (2) Thus, the unit is in a low stress state and can be deleted from the structure.
