The use of building materials based on highly available natural resources, obtained locally and processed using simple techniques, such as those based on raw earth, can constitute a strategy for greater energy efficiency in buildings and for reducing CO2 emissions, in comparison with conventional materials (steel, concrete, aluminum, ceramics), intensive in energy and emission of pollutants (Melià et al., 2014).
