Tailor Welded Blanks (TWB) are blanks in which two or more sheets of similar or dissimilar materials, thicknesses, coatings etc. are welded together to form a single sheet before forming.
Introduction In recent years, the consumer industry has been incorporating a variety of materials in its products made on a large scale to improve performance and reduce costs.
This has resulted in increased demands for techniques to weld dissimilar materials and for use in large scale industrial production [1–3].
Specific energy input to the material reduced and faster cooling rate can be achieved with increase of welding speed.
Journal of Laser Applications, 1994, pp. 212–222

The damage can be defined as the changes to Material, Geometric Property including Boundary Conditions and Structural Connectivity introduced into a System which adversely affect the current and future performances.
Alternatively, Damage is a permanent change in a mechanical state of a component or a material that affects its structural performance.
