Experimental The test material was U70 rail steel, which was a kind of heavy rail steel and the average carbon content was 0.7%.
The hardness of ordinary polycrystalline materials was changed as grain size d changed, and it was subject to Hall-Petch law [3].
For the specimen without ultrasonic impact treatment, there exist some other traces caused by the spalling of the material in block or lamella, besides deeper and wider furrows in the wear surface.

Cr25Ni35Nb and Cr35Ni45Nb austenitic steel are widely used as candidate materials of ethylene furnace tube due to excellent properties in terms of carburization resistance, oxidation resistance, high temperature creep and strength.
It is concluded from the Fig.4 that temperature gradient between the inner surface and outer surface of Cr25Ni35Nb and Cr35Ni45Nb steel tube without coke layer is 70℃ and 40℃,which is in line with the actual condition that Cr25Ni35Nb steel normally used in the convective coil of ethylene furnace, meanwhile Cr35Ni45Nb steel generally as the candidate materials for the radiant coil of ethylene furnace.
As a consequence, high stress initiates due to heterogeneity of material.
