An Integrated Study on Engineering of
Replacing Gas-discharge Source with Solid Electric Light Source
Based on the Design Standard of Architectural Lighting

Abstract: Through field test of LED and fluorescent lamp, the strengths of the former are contrasted and analyzed on its illumination, energy saving and consumption reducing, and life cycle cost based on the design standard of lighting, which proves that it has the operability to take LED as the light source for replacement in architectural lighting.
Taking the classroom of Chengdu University as the object, the possibility and other factors to be noted for replacing traditional light source with the LED in lighting engineering are analyzed through actual measurement of the illumination of LED and fluorescent light and comparison of energy saving rate, total cost of life cycle and other factors.
Using LED tube: I t is calculated by nominal life of 50 thousand hours, the power is saved by: hours=880 degrees in life cycle; the cost is saved by about =466.4 yuan (the current civil electricity price is 0.53 yuan/degree).
In actual engineering, except for illumination, factors like color temperature, influence of light source strobe frequency on vision, driving current and light attenuation, lifespan of driving power should be considered to make optimized illumination scheme.
