Introduction
Functionally graded materials (FGMs) are new versions of composite materials within which the composition of two material phases varies with varying microstructure and non-uniform distribution of the reinforcement phases.
This variation across the cross-section of the material distinguishes FGMs from conventional composite materials ensuing in unique physical properties [1-2].
This FGM concept was proposed by the Japanese researchers in 1982 as materials for superior thermal stress relaxation.

Ultrasonic detection method
Ultrasonic detection is a non-destructive detection method to detect material internal defects on the basis of the difference of materials’ ultrasonic propagation wave reflection and the change of energy in the transmission time.

Abstract.
The characteristics of CaCO3 crystallization fouling growing on common heat exchanger materials which are ss304 and ss316 are studied by static reaction method, and the growth mechanisms of CaCO3 crystallization fouling are further studied.
