The utilization of nanoparticle filled composite materials in many different engineering fields has undergone a tremendous increase.
In some situations, these materials may experience serious damage during the drilling of the nanoparticle-reinforced polymer (NRP) composite materials, such as fiber pullout, matrix delamination, and cracking.
The use of nanoparticulate composite materials has experienced an enormous increase in many different engineering fields as mentioned earlier.

A conclusion is given that the novel damage detection method using the correlation characteristic of the acceleration response as damage index is feasible and efficient.
1 Introduction
As the core of structural health monitoring system, damage detection has become a new challenging issue in recent years [[] Pines DJ, Aktan AE, Status of structural health monitoring of long-span bridges in the United States, Progress in Structural Engineering and Materials. 4(2002) 372-380.

Introduction
Electrical discharge machining is a non-conventional method of machining mainly used for cutting difficult to machine materials which are electrically conductive.
The materials of the electrodes are either metallic (a copper, an alloy of tungsten and copper, steel, brass, etc.), non-metal (graphite), or composite (copper-graphite composition) [2].
