NOVEL PIEZOELECTRIC TACTILE SENSOR MATERIALS WITH IMPROVED PROPERTIES Jayashri VS1, Gloria Chua1 and SE Valavan2 * 1 NUS High School of Mathematics and Science, 20 Clementi Avenue 1, Singapore 129957 2 Republic Polytechnic, 9 Woodlands Ave 9, Singapore 738964 valavan_s@rp.sg, *corresponding author Keywords: Lead Zirconium Titanate, Sol-gel and spin coating, Tactile Sensor, Strontium, Piezoelectricity Abstract Lead Zirconium Titanate (PZT) is an example of a piezoelectric material, which can be polarized by an electric field or mechanical stress.
Present investigation resulted in two important conclusions: PZT-PSZT hybrid films are ideal for tactile sensor applications, and the mathematical relationship developed can be used to evaluate any piezoelectric/ferroelectric materials. 1.
Applications of these results are clear: in the production of tactile sensors, such hybrid materials can be used to yield better results.
Also, the project can also be extended to test for the fatigue levels of these films, for such applications require long-term use of the material, thus requiring high durability of the materials. 5.

Preliminary Investigations on the Reduction of Foot Pressure Measurement and Muscle Activity with Different Insole Materials A.
FEA was done to determine the force distribution under the foot using two different insole materials.
Dynamic loading pressure data collected and Table 1 shows the outcome measurement for four subjects using two different types of insole materials.
This can be associated with the mechanical properties of the both materials that have shock absorbing characteristic.

It was shown that the EP/MMT composites could be successfully synthesized from the raw materials only by one step, making it simpler than traditional in-situ intercalative polymerization method.
Experimental Sections 2.1 Materials and regents The pristine clay is the sodium montmorillonite from Zhejiang, with a d001 spacing of 1.26nm.
Conclusions The EP/MMT composites were successfully synthesized via one step from raw materials by the method of monomer insert in-situ polymerization.
