S. suchouensis, belonging to the Salicaceae family and Salix genus, is widely cultivated along the Huang-Huai river region of China and the coppice shoots are the main material for basket-making, which still survives as a cottage industry.
Experimental Plant material and growth condition.A male and a female individual of S. suchouensis were collected in Xinyi of Jiangsu Province.
