Construction of the prototype of gasoline-natural gas dual fuel engine The main problems and solutions for the operation of gasoline-natural gas engine are summarized as follow [7, 8]: 1) As natural gas is gas fuel, usually it is needed to install another set of fuel supply system on the engine. 2) As natural gas only contains 50%-80% methane, this fuel would not be supplied under the loads of starting, acceleration and full load to maintain engine power performance. 3) To ensure strong engine power, when combusting natural gas, reasonable improvements of higher charging efficiency and compression ratio is necessary. 4) Due to trace hydrogen sulfide contained in the fuel, to reduce corrosion and wear on cylinder wall, valves and valve seats, some measures are recommended to extend engine service life and overhaul period, including desulfurization, improved cylinder by using corrosion-resistant material and using specific lube oil, etc.
