This implies a need for the materials characterization of thin semiconductor layers.
In case MOSFETs are available on an SOI substrate, several device-based techniques have been developed for materials' characterization [2].
A detailed analysis reveals that the asymptotic carrier decay is composed of multiple trapping events that can be described in a similar way as for disordered materials [1].

Collecting and measuring trace hazardous vapors requires both universal and chemically-selective
sorbing materials.
We coat SAW devices, operating at 97 MHz, with four different polymer materials and NPC for comparison.
Such chemical discrimination is an excellent property for SAW sensor coating materials.
