1School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing, 100083, P.
In order to research into the characteristics of stochastic human footfall force, and to find out the relationship between the dynamic response of footbridges and the number of pedestrians, this research, taking a steel structure footbridge named Shuang'an East in Beijing as the engineering background, using the pilot edition of Anylogic® pedestrian simulation software to simulate the pedestrians' positions when the time is passing.
A three-dimensional full-bridge beam element model is established with Midas/Civil® software’s trial version, and some joined beam elements perpendicular to the bridge girder’s elements are employed to transfer the human footfall force to the main girder, forming a fishbone-like FEM model.

Introduction
In measuring typical vibrations of civil engineering structures the most common sensors are piezoelectric accelerometers acting in translational directions.
Recently special devices measuring rotational degrees of freedom appeared in modern seismic engineering and seismology [e.g. 1,2].
However in some areas of SHM, particularly for typical, civil engineering structures (e.g. reinforced concrete frames [8-10], buildings modeled as shear beams [3, 10] or masonry structures) it is not possible to localize damages in forms of such the simple ''cuts'', with localized stiffness losses.
Experimental set-up Before the angular rate sensors are used to monitor large reinforced concrete frames encountered in civil engineering it will be valuable to gain some experience in smaller scale.
