A Novel Method for Snowboard Course Design

Article Preview

Abstract:

Mathematical models are proposed to determine the most suitable shape of a snowboard course based on vertical air, maximum twist and the practicability. Firstly, according to the kinetic energy theorem, the snowboarder can reach the maximum vertical air if the course is an ellipse. Subsequently, the maximum twist is obtained when the total vertical and horizontal velocities is maximum. Experiment result show that the model is a “practical” course which is adjusted to the most suitable tradeoffs.
