FEM Analysis of Field Test for Tensile Forces Creating in Geosynthetic Components in Waste Landfill Liner

Article Preview

Abstract:

It is important to evaluate the factor affecting the tensile forces creating in geosynthetic components in waste landfill liner such as waste weight and working vehicle for designing anchor trench at side slope crest. In this research, FEM analyses were performed for the field tests with 5m height waste landfill model for evaluating the tensile forces creating in geosynthetic components of liner. In the FEM analyses, the stress-strain relationship of geotextile and geomembrance was modeled by linear elastic and the stress-strain relationship of filling soil and friction stress-relative displacement relationship of joint element was modeled by hyperbola. By the calculations, the scale of tensile forces creating in geosynthetic components was evaluated. The effects of load and placement of working vehicle on the tensile forces were investigated.
